Be Frank Foundation Scholarship In Honor of David B Stoneback 1959-2023

Dave loved learning all of his life.  He was always reading and researching for fun and education. He graduated with Honors from The Peddie School in Hightstown, NJ and from Brown University and later received his Masters from the Daniels College of Business at The University of Denver.

In 2003 we attended a bluegrass festival in Lyons, CO - RockyGrass, where our son Brian was enrolled in a mandolin class at the RockyGrass Academy.  This is where Dave became interested in playing music and went back to RockyGrass where he enrolled in the Academy. For 8 years straight, Dave took lessons in guitar, mandolin and banjo. The Academy also offered instrument building. Dave enjoyed these classes so much that he started building his own guitars. We would travel to various bluegrass festivals including Merlefest, Delfest, Pagosa, Pallisades, Grand Targhee and Flagstaff.  Many musicians played his guitars and were very impressed with his craftsmanship and sound of his guitars.

We both strongly believe that the Arts are a very important part of a child's education.  Music brings people together, builds lasting relationships and promotes brain function by improving mathematics and creativity. Additionally, music is soothing and healing for many people and is routinely used as therapy for many patients suffering from various ailments. By starting this scholarship for young students, as a legacy for Dave, we hope that many children will benefit from the gift of music.  Thank you to The Be Frank Foundation for their passion in exposing music to our youth and removing the financial barriers to those who wish to explore musical education.
